Starting the therapy process begins with reaching out to schedule an free 15 minutes initial consultation, where we can discuss your needs and goals. If you decide to start therapy after the consultation, your therapist will send you some paperwork to fill out online. Once the forms are completed, you can schedule the first session with your therapist.

In the initial consultation, you and your therapist will talk about what brings you to therapy and what you hope to achieve. Your therapist will ask some questions to better understand your needs and current challenges, and you’ll have the opportunity to ask your therapist anything about the process. The consultation helps you decide if you and your therapist are a good match and how you might work together moving forward.

At this time, we do not accept insurance directly. However, if you have a PPO plan, we offer a complimentary insurance concierge service to help you understand your benefits and guide you through the process of seeking reimbursement from your insurance provider.

In your first therapy session, you and your therapist begin building a connection by getting to know each other, and your therapist will ask questions to better understand your history, current challenges, and goals to complete the initial assessment. The session is usually 50 minutes long.

Online therapy is conducted through Simple Practice, which is a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform, allowing you to attend sessions from the comfort and privacy of your own space. All you need is a reliable internet connection, a quiet environment, and a computer or mobile device. A day prior to your session, you'll receive a reminder with secure link to join—just click and connect.

Online therapy offers greater flexibility and convenience, allowing you to attend sessions from what works the best for you. It can feel more comfortable and accessible, especially for those with busy schedules, mobility challenges, or who prefer the privacy of their own space. Many clients find they open up more easily in a familiar environment, which can enhance the therapeutic experience.

If you don’t feel a strong connection after the initial consultation, that’s completely okay—it’s important to find the right fit for your needs. Therapy works best when you feel comfortable and supported, so I welcome open communication about your experience. Please reach out to the admin team (admin@thetalkingcorner.com) and we are happy to help guide you toward a therapist who may be a better match.

You are always in control of your therapy journey and can choose to end therapy at any time. Whether you feel your goals have been met or need a break, your decision will be respected without judgment. However, we encouage you to discuss your concerns with your therapist before you end therapy.
